The “College HoD’s Guide to Sustainable Partnerships” meeting, hosted by The World Ecological Society, Pune and Pune Information Centre, brought NGOs and academic institutions together to discuss the challenges faced by communities and explore new perspectives towards solving them. The interaction highlighted a clear opportunity to connect the real-world needs identified by non-profit organisations with the knowledge, skills and capabilities available within colleges. Recognising this need, PCCOE took the initiative to develop a platform envisioned to create a structured connection between non-profit organisations and academic institutions.

What began as an idea soon evolved into a concrete vision for meaningful collaboration - SevaSaarthi. The concept was refined around a simple objective: make it easier for community organisations to bring forward genuine challenges and for academic institutions to discover opportunities where their students, faculty and expertise could contribute. The platform began taking shape as a structured space for connecting community needs with academic capability, creating a pathway from identifying a challenge to finding the people and institutions equipped to work towards a solution.

After weeks of planning, designing, developing and refining, the first version of the SevaSaarthi website was brought to life. What began as an idea during a conversation between NGOs and academia had evolved into a functioning platform built through relentless effort and collaboration. This milestone marked the first public expression of the vision — creating a dedicated space where community challenges could meet academic capability, and where the foundation for future collaborations could begin.

Team SevaSaarthi had the wonderful opportunity to present its vision and journey before the visionary Director of Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Dr. Govind N. Kulkarni. The interaction provided valuable insights, encouragement, and a renewed sense of purpose, further strengthening the team’s commitment to building a meaningful platform for community engagement. The experience expanded the horizons of SevaSaarthi’s vision and reinforced the spirit of service that continues to drive its journey towards creating meaningful, lasting impact.

Seva Aarambh marked a defining moment in the journey of SevaSaarthi — where an idea became a shared beginning. The official launch brought together NGOs, academic institutions, faculty, students and distinguished guests to explore how real community challenges could meet academic capability. Through conversations, experiences, problem statements and new connections, the vision took its first significant step towards becoming a living ecosystem for collaboration. It was not simply a launch, but the beginning of a journey to connect, contribute and create meaningful, lasting impact.
